Gunmen have struck the remote community of Piko in the Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory, abducting 13 individuals, including 4 nomadic Fulani herdsmen.
The brazen incident, which unfolded on Sunday night, lasted over an hour without any intervention from security forces or vigilante groups. Chief John Jatau, the Maidakin of the community, confirmed the abduction and disclosed that the kidnappers are demanding a staggering ransom of N900 million.
Among the victims are Nuhu Anyiwoyi, Emmanuel Nuhu, Danjuma Ali, Parisa Numa, Ezekiel Jatau, Shekwosa Ezekiel, Roseline Samuel, Salome Jacob, Abyelo Ezra, and Ezra Male.
The lack of a telecommunications network compounded the challenge, hindering communication with outsiders during the ordeal. Despite the gravity of the situation, only one of the abducted Fulani individuals has been released so far.
