In a remarkable turn of events, the Federal University Dutsin Ma in Katsina State rejoices as five students, who were abducted 74 days ago, have been freed from captivity.

The Vice-Chancellor, Armaya’u Bichi, announced the liberating news, revealing that the students, originally five females, were kidnapped by terrorists on October 3, 2023.

One student managed to escape shortly after the abduction, while the remaining four have now been released. The Vice-Chancellor confirmed that no ransom was paid for their freedom, crediting the efforts of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for their safe return.

The students are set to undergo medical checkups in Abuja before reuniting with their families. The incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in the North-west region, with recent attacks on educational institutions highlighting the urgency for strengthened security measures.
