In a recent revelation, the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert regarding the sale of a falsified Paracetamol Injection mislabelled as "Paracetamol Injection 300mg/2ml I.M I.V Aminoglycoside Antibacterial."

The discovery came to light during a surveillance activity in FCT, Abuja, where the post-marketing surveillance (PMS) unit identified the counterfeit product. Laboratory analysis conducted by NAFDAC in Kaduna confirmed that the product contained only paracetamol, contrary to the labeled Aminoglycoside Antibacterial. NAFDAC has directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to conduct surveillance and eliminate the falsified product.

Importers, distributors, retailers, healthcare professionals, and caregivers are cautioned to exercise vigilance within the supply chain. NAFDAC urges the public to report any suspicions or adverse events related to the use of medicinal products to ensure consumer safety.
