In the aftermath of the devastating explosion that rocked Ibadan on Tuesday, claiming lives and damaging numerous houses within a 14-kilometer radius, the death toll has risen to five, according to the Oyo State government.

Governor Seyi Makinde provided updates on the casualties during a television interview, revealing that the toll increased from the initially reported two deaths on Tuesday to five, with two more bodies recovered on Thursday.

Seven individuals were injured in the explosion, with ongoing rescue efforts. The governor, alongside security agencies, is determined to ensure the diligent prosecution of those responsible for the incident, emphasizing transparency and justice.

The blast, attributed to illegal miners storing explosive devices, has prompted further investigations and heightened security measures to uncover the identities of the individuals involved. Governor Makinde affirmed the state's commitment to holding those responsible accountable.
