In a bold move to elevate the standard of education in Taraba State, Governor Dr Agbu Kefas has announced that a master's degree will be the minimum academic qualification for individuals aspiring to teach in the state's secondary schools.

The governor unveiled this groundbreaking policy during a dinner with journalists in Jalingo on January 7, emphasizing the state's commitment to fostering a higher quality of education.

Governor Kefas also revealed plans to raise the bar for primary school teachers, stating that a university first degree will soon replace the National Certificate of Education (NCE) as the minimum qualification.

Furthermore, he disclosed the reintroduction of History studies in the basic education curriculum, starting from primary schools, aiming to lay a solid foundation for accelerated development.

Governor Kefas asserted that these measures are pivotal for securing a brighter future for Taraba's youth and underscored the government's commitment to free education by slashing school fees for undergraduates in the state university.

The governor urged journalists to monitor the implementation of the free education policy, emphasizing its non-negotiable nature in achieving educational excellence for the state's children.
