Kaduna Assembly launches a probe into financial management during Nasir el-Rufai's tenure, focusing on loans, grants, and project implementation from 2015 to 2023. Former officials questioned for clarity as assembly emphasizes transparent governance

The Kaduna State Assembly's investigative committee, comprising 13 members, has initiated an inquiry into the financial management during Nasir el-Rufai's tenure as governor. This probe, spanning 2015 to 2023, scrutinizes loans, grants, and project implementation.

Suraj Bamalli, the media aide to Speaker Yusuf Liman, confirmed the commencement of clarification sessions involving key officials. Notably, former government officials like Manzo Maigari and Thomas Gyang have been engaged.

The assembly underscores its commitment to transparent governance throughout this process. Governor Uba Sani had earlier disclosed inheriting substantial debts, including $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities, which continue to strain the state's fiscal resources.
