A Kaduna man, Lukman Soladoye, faced a Shari’a court for beating his wife and four children, claiming it was to correct them out of love. The complainant initially sought a divorce due to the ongoing assaults but later changed her mind, settling with her husband. In court, she requested a caution against physical abuse.

The judge, Isiyaku Abdulrahman, advised Soladoye against beating, suggesting communication and affection. While Soladoye agreed to stop beating his wife, he refused for the children, insisting on corrective measures.

The judge urged alternative methods for child correction, emphasizing monitoring to ensure the defendant adheres to the agreement and encouraging the complainant to report any further assaults.
