Tensions escalate in Kano State as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, issues a stern warning to Governor Abba Yusuf, urging him to prioritize governance over what he terms as a fruitless attempt to tarnish his reputation.

The exchange comes in the wake of criminal charges filed against Ganduje by the state government, alleging bribery in the amounts of $413,000 and N1.38 billion. Governor Yusuf, upon assuming office in 2023, accused his predecessor of financial mismanagement and nepotism, alleging the allocation of land to family members.

In response, Ganduje, through his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, denounces the allegations as baseless and diversionary tactics. He criticizes the state government's decision to pursue legal action, labeling it as an attempt to deflect attention from governance shortcomings.

The charge sheet, dated April 3, 2024, names Ganduje's wife and son, along with several others, as co-defendants. Despite the legal maneuverings, Ganduje asserts that the alleged offense falls under federal jurisdiction and challenges the legitimacy of the state's actions.

Emphasizing his commitment to transparent governance, Ganduje urges the state government to redirect its efforts towards addressing the needs of the people. He calls for a focus on development initiatives and suggests revisiting his administration's blueprint for sustainable progress in Kano State.

Furthermore, Ganduje advocates for a broader scope in the investigation, spanning from 1999 to the present, to ensure fairness and impartiality. He asserts that accountability should extend beyond his tenure and emphasizes the importance of clean governance practices.

The escalating feud between Ganduje and Governor Yusuf underscores deep-seated political tensions within Kano State. As both sides dig in their heels, the fate of the state's governance and the pursuit of justice remain uncertain. Stay tuned as developments unfold in this ongoing saga.
