Two minors, aged six and nine, have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly setting fire to their school in the Isheri-Olofin area of Ifo Local Government. The incident, which occurred on October 29, 2023, saw the young culprits gain access to the school, where they gathered books left behind by teachers and set them ablaze, resulting in damage to the educational materials.

The police were alerted to the situation by a community leader, and the Anti-Crime and Detectives Unit promptly visited the school. They took the children into custody for questioning. Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that the police would be reaching out to the parents of the minors to understand the circumstances surrounding their actions.

This act of arson by the young students has raised concerns, and the police will continue their investigation to determine if anyone influenced the children to commit the crime.
