Mr. Olumide's statement comes as a response to the rampant disregard for physical planning regulations across the state. He has made it clear that no one, regardless of their standing, will be exempt from the enforcement of these laws.

Here are the 27 essential documents required for those seeking building approval in Lagos:

  1. Five original copies of architecturally stamped and sealed drawings endorsed by the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
  2. Five original copies of structurally signed, sealed, and dated drawings with a letter of supervision from a COREN-registered engineer.
  3. A calculation sheet for project materials signed by a COREN-registered engineer.
  4. Proof of payment for application assessment fees.
  5. Five original copies of mechanical and electrical drawings if applicable.
  6. Certified copies of title documents (e.g., certificate of occupancy, conveyance, governor’s consent, or letter of allocation).
  7. Confirmation or clearance letter from the Lands Bureau.
  8. Clearance letter from the Land Use Allocation Committee.
  9. Fire safety clearance from Lagos State Fire Service.
  10. Metroline corridor clearance from Lagos State Ministry of Transport.
  11. Traffic impact assessment report from Lagos State Ministry of Transport.
