Meta's major platforms – Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger – are facing a worldwide outage, causing frustration for users globally. The disruption began around 10:20 am ET, leaving hundreds of thousands unable to log in and connect.

According to DownDetector, more than 200,000 Americans are reporting issues with Facebook, while Instagram and Messenger are also experiencing problems for over 30,000 and 8,000 users, respectively. The outage has extended beyond the U.S., affecting users in the U.K., Europe, China, Australia, and Mexico.

Users found themselves abruptly logged out, with attempts to log back in proving unsuccessful. Error messages on Instagram and glitches on Facebook and Messenger have left social media feeds in disarray. DownDetector's outage map highlights major U.S. cities, including New York and Chicago, experiencing severe connectivity problems.

Seeking an outlet for their frustrations, users turned to alternative platforms like Elon Musk's X, where more than 50,000 posts discussed the Facebook and Instagram downtime. Musk responded with a cheeky post, reassuring users that X was operational.

Meta's service dashboard confirms disruptions in various services, including Ads Manager, Facebook & Instagram Shops, Meta Business Suite, and Meta Admin Center. However, Meta is yet to release an official statement on the outage, leaving users uncertain about when their digital access will be restored.

As the global tech community eagerly awaits Meta's response, experts are speculating on the cause and potential implications of this unprecedented digital hiccup. The outage underscores the interconnected nature of our digital lives, emphasizing the need for swift resolution and improved system resilience.
