The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development has taken music promoter Kenny Ogungbe and Minister Hannatu Musawa to court over alleged violations of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Act.

The NBA is urging the court to nullify the NYSC certificates issued to Ogungbe and Musawa, further seeking the removal of Minister Musawa from office. The lawsuit alleges that both individuals breached the NYSC Act by participating in the scheme after surpassing the age limit of 30, a claim deemed unlawful and an affront to patriotism by the NBA.

The plaintiffs are seeking declarations reinforcing the NYSC Act's provisions and challenging the eligibility of the defendants for public office.

The legal action follows controversies surrounding Ogungbe's NYSC graduation at the age of 53 and Minister Musawa's participation in the scheme years after her initial mobilization in 2001.
