Air Chief Marshal Hassan Abubakar expressed profound regret and offered a formal apology to the Nasarawa state government and families affected by a devastating airstrike in Rukubi community, Doma, in January 2023.

Speaking during a condolence visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule, Abubakar clarified that the airstrike, intended to target terrorists on motorcycles, tragically resulted in the accidental deaths of innocent civilians.

The Air Chief emphasized that the incident was not deliberate, aiming to address the prevailing insecurity in the region. Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Abubakar sought Governor Sule's intervention in initiating reconciliation efforts with the victims' representatives, highlighting the Nigerian Air Force's commitment to ending security challenges in Nasarawa.

Governor Sule, emotional about the tragic loss, appreciated the Air Force's admission of responsibility and pledged continued support in resolving the aftermath of the accidental strike.
