In a heartwarming display of honesty and integrity, Mohammed Sani Abdulrahman, a 37-year-old Point of Sale (PoS) operator from Kurnar Asabe Quarters in Kano, was rewarded with a cash gift of N500,000.00 by a businessman. The businessman mistakenly transferred N10,000,000.00 to Mohammed instead of N10,000.00, sparking a tale of moral courage.

The incident, which occurred in December 2023, was reported to the Kano State Police Command, initiating a three-month-long investigation. Mohammed himself reported the overpayment at the State’s Police Headquarters in Bompai, Kano, demonstrating his commitment to honesty.

Led by SP Abdulwahab Zubairu, a team of detectives from the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department conducted a discreet investigation. Their efforts culminated in identifying the rightful owner, a businessman at Dawanau Grain Market in Kano Metropolis.

Upon confirmation of ownership, the excess sum of N9,990,000 was promptly returned to the owner's account. Overwhelmed by Mohammed's integrity, the businessman rewarded him with a generous cash gift of N500,000.00.

CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, Commissioner of Police for Kano State, lauded Mohammed's exemplary conduct, urging others to emulate his honesty. Mohammed's actions stand as a beacon of hope, reaffirming the enduring values of integrity and moral uprightness in society.
