Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has accused some Nigerians of obstructing progress in the power sector due to their self-serving motives.

Speaking at the commissioning of a mobile station in Ajah, Lagos State, Adelabu acknowledged anticipated resistance but emphasized the positive impact of ongoing TCN projects once completed.

He stressed the need for a service-reflective tariff rather than a cost-reflective one, asserting that electricity distributors must provide 20-24 hours of electricity before implementing the proposed N225/kWh tariff, with heavy fines for non-compliance.

Despite Adelabu's assurances, skepticism remains among Nigerians, with some criticizing the lack of transparency in naming those hindering progress and expressing doubts about the timeline for project completion.

Adelabu's remarks come amid ongoing efforts to improve the power sector and provide Nigerians with more reliable electricity access.
