Notorious criminal Nasiru Abdullahi, also known as Chile Maidoki, who had been declared wanted by the Kano command, has joined the Nigeria Police Force as a police constabulary. Abdullahi and two other criminals had been declared wanted by the Kano command with a bounty of N100,000 each in August. However, he voluntarily turned himself in at the Bompai headquarters of the command a few days later. He reported himself to the commissioner of police, claiming that he had hidden in a burial ground yard in Kano city to evade detection by security personnel.

Abdullahi is now among the 10,000 police constabularies undergoing a six-month training exercise to enhance community policing nationwide. This development has raised questions about the vetting process for police recruits and concerns about his past activities. The Nigeria Police Force must ensure that such individuals are genuinely reformed and ready to uphold the law.
