Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has emphasized the importance of honesty, honor, and integrity as fundamental qualities for great leadership. In an interview with ARISE NEWS, Obi shared his perspective on the significance of leadership qualities beyond educational qualifications.

He highlighted that while having the best educational qualifications is not a prerequisite for leadership, individuals aspiring to lead must be truthful and transparent about their backgrounds. Obi underscored the crucial role that honesty and integrity play in building a strong foundation for society.

Obi expressed concern about the prevalence of issues related to certification and age falsification among leaders in Nigeria, emphasizing that such dishonesty hinders their ability to make the right decisions and sets a poor moral example for society.

To illustrate his point, Obi cited examples of renowned world leaders and innovators who, despite lacking formal education or having challenging pasts, achieved greatness and made significant contributions to the world. He emphasized that one doesn't need a multitude of degrees to be considered great but must uphold honor and integrity in their personal history.

Regarding his stance on working with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration for nation-building, Obi stressed the importance of challenging the processes through which leaders come into power. He asserted that even opposition plays a vital role in building a proper government and ensuring that leaders follow the correct procedures to assume office.
