Tension gripped the Yelwa Campus of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi as students protested the tragic killing of a final-year Geology student, Joseph Agabaidu, during a robbery. The incident occurred on Saturday night when Agabaidu was attacked while returning to his lodge. The 500-level student succumbed to injuries sustained in the assault.
On Monday, students rallied for justice in a planned peaceful protest, but the situation escalated when the Nigeria Police Force teargassed the demonstrators, stationing armored tankers at the school gate.
The clash led to the closure of the gate, disrupting campus activities. Despite authorities' attempts to calm the situation, students remained defiant, expressing solidarity through songs.
