Nigeria President Tinubu's Call for Nigerians to Be Cheerful Givers Is Frowned Upon Amidst Nationwide Hardship

President Bola Tinubu's remarks on Wednesday, reassuring Nigerians of his government's commitment to the 'Renewed Hope Agenda', sparked irritation among citizens amidst nationwide hardship.

Speaking with journalists after Eid-el-Fitr prayers at Dodan Barracks, Ikoyi, Lagos, Tinubu emphasized the agenda's potential to lead to a better Nigeria and urged Nigerians to safeguard the nation's integrity. While commending citizens for their resilience, sacrifice, and endurance, Tinubu encouraged them to be cheerful givers and to maintain hope.

However, reactions from Nigerians varied. Rafiu Ebiti, chairman of the governing council of Summit University, Offa, Kwara, commended Tinubu's efforts but emphasized the need for courage to address challenges. Tunde Balogun, a former APC chairman in Lagos, echoed the sentiment of sustaining good deeds beyond Ramadan and promoting unity regardless of ethnic or religious affiliations.

Despite the presence of personalities like Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, and Gboyega Oyetola, citizens expressed skepticism and frustration towards Tinubu's remarks, highlighting the ongoing hardships faced by many in the country.
