The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the reopening of runway 18L/36R at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos following the recent incident involving a Dana Air plane. The runway was temporarily closed after the aircraft skidded off it during landing.

FAAN's Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection confirmed that prompt actions were taken to evacuate and recover the aircraft, followed by comprehensive clearing operations to ensure flight safety.

The FAAN Operations Division and Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) conducted thorough inspections and issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) before resuming operations. Despite challenges due to muddy conditions, FAAN expressed gratitude to passengers and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation, apologizing for any inconvenience caused.

The incident underscores the importance of maintaining safety protocols in air travel operations.
