Nigeria's Super Falcons dominated their Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Cape Verde with a resounding 5-0 victory at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja. Despite missing star player Asisat Oshoala, Uchenna Kanu and Esther Okoronkwo each scored a brace, while Monday Gift contributed a goal to secure the emphatic win. Kanu opened the scoring in the 7th minute, and Gift added another nine minutes later.

Kanu extended the lead just before halftime, converting a cross from Toni Payne. In the second half, substitute Okoronkwo scored in the 66th and 77th minutes, solidifying Nigeria's dominance.

The Super Falcons displayed superiority, and with the 5-0 win, they aim to seal their qualification in the second leg in Praia, Cape Verde, on December 5. The victorious performance came under interim coach Madugu Justine, filling in during the continued absence of Head Coach Randy Waldrum. The winner of the two fixtures will secure a place in the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco
