In the aftermath of the Bayelsa gubernatorial election, Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, has deemed former President Goodluck Jonathan's comments on the outcome as "unfortunate."
Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious, securing a second term as governor.
During a post-election visit, Jonathan expressed relief and hinted at potential relocation plans if Diri had not been reelected, citing improvements in security during Diri's administration.
Sylva, however, responded via Instagram, expressing hope that Jonathan was misquoted and quoting Wole Soyinka's famous words: "you can take the hippopotamus out of the swamp, but you cannot take the swamp out of the hippopotamus."
