Minister Festus Keyamo discloses an alarming 82% revenue loss, amounting to N10 billion, from airport tollgate exemptions granted to VIPs. The Federal Executive Council resolves to end these exemptions for top government officials, aiming to mitigate revenue deficits and address infrastructure decay in Nigeria's aviation sector.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, disclosed that the Federal Government incurred an 82% loss, equivalent to N10 billion, from airport tollgate revenue under old regulations.

Speaking after a Federal Executive Council meeting, Keyamo expressed dismay over the ministry's practice of providing complimentary e-tags to VIPs, resulting in significant revenue loss.

He highlighted the need for equitable payment for airport services to address infrastructure decay and revenue deficits. The FEC resolved that top government officials, including the president and vice president, will now pay access fees or use e-tags at all 24 federal airports to mitigate revenue losses.

Previously exempted from such charges, this decision aims to enhance revenue generation and address infrastructure decay in the aviation sector.
