An Apapa Senior Magistrates’ Court in Lagos will on Jan. 10 sentence 21-year-old Samson Ademola, who, on Wednesday, pleaded guilty to stealing a phone at the police station.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr Adeyemi Amos, fixed the judgment date after the accused pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of stealing a mobile phone.

Amos remanded the accused at the Kirikiri Prisons, until the adjourned date for sentencing.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Inedu, said the accused, of Amukoko Area of Apapa, entered the Amukoko Police Station, and stole a mobile phone worth N16, 000, belonging to Cpl. Omotosho Abiodun.

"The accused strayed into the police station and stole the phone kept inside the charge room, but was apprehended immediately and the phone was found inside his pocket,’’ Inedu said.

He said the accused committed the offence on Nov. 23, 2013 at 6.30 a.m. at the Amukoko police station.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011 which stipulates three years imprisonment for stealing.
