The Chevrolet Silverado 2015 continues the successes of its predecessor with the right mix of technology, a serious face, impressive powertrain options, and a comfortable and refined interior. The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is the second model in Chevrolet truck design.

The truck is a complete redesign from 2014, with a design that closely resembles the heavy duty models in its portfolio. The 2015 model comes with an erect, chiseled appearance for its interiors and exteriors; an energetic but fuel efficient engine capacity, more refined, quieter cabins; and a comprehensive list of infotainment and safety features.Everything combines in perfect harmony to spice up the appearance of the Chevrolet Silverado 2015, with its amazing styling and rugged build.

Styling

Now, a year after a complete redesign, The Chevrolet Silverado 2015- 1500 is becoming easier to distinguish from the previous Chevy half-ton truck. Its design is similar to most set-in-stone pickup trucks present, but the features are all improved and upgraded. On closer inspection you will notice fewer items hanging down, cleaner styling, and the additional trim-specific accents.

At the front, the look is bigger and blunter than ever, and takes cues from Chevy's newest heavy-duty (HD) truck, while moving to an almost big-rig-inspired look, which has become standard in the van market. The look is more impressive, thanks to a cap placed on the same level as the HD trucks, "more brightwork on the higher trim levels and a mesh honeycomb appearance to the grille.

Performance

The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 uses a reengineered line of engines, introduced with the redesign of the previous year model.Options include the base V-6, which is powerful enough for most uses, as well as a pair of V-8 engines. The three engines come with Cylinder Deactivation Technology that allows the engine to run smoothly and transition to four cylinders (for V-6 or V-8s) when the engine load is low, especially when crossing a road, yard, or slowing down.

The base 90 degrees, 4.3-liter V-6, is essentially a V-8 cut off with two cylinders, but it has a balance shaft design to provide an acceptable smoothness. And with 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft, the V-6 is now strong enough to power crew-cab models or trailer-tow.In fact, we think that for all full-size buyers who never tow more than a simple pleasure boat or a trailer with snowmobiles and ATVs, this V-6 has more than enough muscle for the job.

Safety

With an improved frame, a new cabin and a revised seating position and enhanced safety features, the current generation Silverado outperforms the trucks replaced in 2014.In NHTSA testing, the Silverado 2015 - 1500 deserves an impressive 5-star rating, with five stars in frontal and side impact categories and a four-star score in rollover tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gives the Silverado a summit last 'good' score for moderate overlap front crashworthiness.

Standard safety equipment includes head-curtain side air bags with rollover protection as well as StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control plus Hill Start Assist. The driver is kept alert by Lane Departure Warning system, like what is offered on most Cadillacs and many other GM products. The mirrors are smaller and more aerodynamic, and the spotter mirrors helps to keep drivers alert of blind spots, others include a Forward Collision Alert system (camera based), and a Rear tailgate-mounted camera.

Feature

The Chevrolet Silverado 2015 offers more luxury features than ever before. Those looking to go outside can equip their truck as a luxury car.All Chevrolet Silverado models come packed with air conditioning and keyless entry.Silverado LT models come with fog lamps, power adjustable pedals, heated front seats and a parking lot, and the 2015 LT models come with the front bench and also get a USB port for the upper glove box.LTZ models come with cooled front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an entertainment Blu-Ray system, and 18-inch wheels made of machined aluminum.

The Chevrolet Silverado also comes with MyLink system, which provides natural language voice recognition, connection for about 10 devices, and an 8-inch touch screen. The MyLink system allows up to 60 favorites to be saved for radio stations, destinations, contacts, and other media. This year’s model also includes an Enhanced Link My version, which adds Siri Eyes, SMS alerts, and available OnStar 4G LTE.

Fuel and Economy

The time and energy invested in the renovation of the Silverado's engine lineup last year paid off, with fuel consumption that is very competitive with other full-size light trucks. The 2015 Silverado 1500 V-6 models earned 18 mpg city and 24 on the highway Rear-wheel drive; but when you activate the 4WD, it drops to 17/22 mpg. V-8 models have EPA ratings of 16 mpg city, 23 highway with rear-wheel drive and 16/22 mpg with 4WD.TheEPA fuel-economy ratings for the 6.2-liter V-8 coupled to the new eight-speed automatic are not yet available but needs to improve on the 6.2 / six-speed combo.

Conclusion

While the newest Chevy half-ton trucks are now closer in appearance to their three-quarter and one-ton counterparts, some may have a hard time distinguishing them from having the latest generation of GM's pickups. The interior continues the logical layout, with most controls located either to the left of the steering wheel or in the large center console. The average price of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ranges from N5 to 7million naira, depending on the options and specs. This truck may not have that jaw-dropping appearance but certainly packs enough stamina to conquer our poor roads.
