Algeria continued in the impressive form of African teams of late, defeating Korea Republic to take all three points in their second match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament.

Having narrowly lost their first game against Belgium, the African team needed a perfect response in their second game to keep their hopes alive.

A brilliant first half showing helped Algeria run out with a 3-0 lead in the first 45 minutes of the game.

Islam Slimani got the better of two Korean defenders slipping in between them to loop the ball over the keeper and give his side the lead.

Not long after,Abdelmoumene Djabou's corner found Rafik Halliche who headed in the second goal.

Djabou got the third goal to set his side on the roll going into the break, and the Algerians were comfortable from then onward.

But the Koreans started the second half brightly and looked to reduce the goals deficit. Bayer Leverkusen's Son Heung-min produced a smart finish to score his side's first goal in the game.

The goal was like an incentive for the Koreans who pressed for more goals,Ki Sung-yueng tried a long range shot that forced Rais Mbolhi into making a good save.

A good finish from Yacine Brahimi restored Algeria's lead who were on course for the victory, but Korea set up a nervy ending when they pulled one back through Koo Ja-cheol in the 72nd minute.

Algeria held on and was able to record a famous victory in the country's football history.

Just like Nigeria who ended their winless streak of 16 years on Saturday,Algeria with the win over Korea secured its first win at a World Cup finals since 1982.

No African team has ever scored four or more goals in a World Cup game and they have become the first team to do so.
