The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday accused the Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI, of disrupting the former’s membership registration.
APC membership registration began nationwide on Wednesday. The exercise took place in the 4,442 political units in the Rivers State.
In a statement by Chukwuemeka Eze, media aide to the interim Chairman of the APC in the state, the party expressed regrets that the GDI, the political machinery of the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, made good its threat to disrupt the exercise in some of the units.
It claimed the plot to disrupt the exercise was hatched during a meeting held in the house of a GDI chieftain in Obio Akpor LGA, Timothy Nsirim, during which members of the group as well as the leaders of the PDP were directed to ensure that the centres were attacked.
