Athletics: Nigeria clear medals in Mauritius

Nigerian athletes are dominating the African Athletics Junior Championship in Mauritius,winning medals in some of their events.
In the Men’s 100m event, Nigeria claimed the gold and silver medals,after Harry Chuwudike won the race in a time of 10.54 secs,closely followed by his compatriot,Mamus Emuobonuvie with a time of 10.58secs to win silver.
Nigeria equally took the gold medals in both the men and women’s categories of the 4x100m relay races.
There was to be another victory for Nigeria in the 400m event,with Ada Benjamin winning the gold in 52.87secs;while another Nigerian athlete,Rita Ossai took the silver with a time of 53.84secs.
But in the men’s category,Nigeria’s Omezia Akerele won silver with 47.32secs,finishing behind Dennis Opio from Uganda who won the race in a time of 46.94secs.
The wins recorded in these events,have now shot Nigeria to the top of the table at the competition.
