Arsenal's hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage of the champions league were dashed yesterday when they were thrashed 5 - 1 by German champions Bayern Munich.

The gunners went 3 - 0 down in the first half as Lewandowski, Muller and Alaba found the back of the net. The second 45 was no different as Bayern's Robben and Muller scored a goal each before Olivier Giroud put one back.

Arsenal have moved to third place on the log but are six points behind second placed Olympiakos who defeated Dinamo Zagreb to arrive at 9 points.

Arsenal needs to win both of their remaining matches with nice goal margins and Olympiackos lose theirs for the English team to scale through.

Jose Mourinho's struggling Chelsea however recorded a vital win over Dinamo Kiev at Stamford bridge to take their tally to 7 points and step closer to qualification.

An Aleksandar Dragovic own goal had put the Blues in front in the first half before Dragovic himself atoned for his sins later on with an equalizer in the last 15 minutes.

Chelsea immediately struck back with a Willian freekick which was enough to secure all the points needed.

Mourinho's team are currently second as FC Porto defeated Maccabi Tel'Aviv 3 -1 to claim top spot.

Barcelona inched closer to qualification as they remain at the top of the group with 10 points. The defending champions defeated BATE borisov by three goals to nil at the Nou camp. Neymar scored twice while Suarez also had his name on the score sheet.
