Sports Chelsea cruise to the semifinal of the Capital One Cup

Chelsea had no problems defeating Derby County 2-0 and qualifying for the semifinal of the Capital One Cup competition.

Many expecting Jose Mourinho to rest his key players and go with academy players, were left stunned after the Portuguese named a strong line-up for the encounter.

The likes of John Terry, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard all started the game against Derby and it was not surprisingly seeing them dominate the game.

And Mourinho's team built on their strength to open the scores through Hazard who put his team in the team.

However Chelsea's momentum was halted when their defender, Kurt Zouma was carried off on a stretcher after an accidental collision with Petr Cech.

But it didn't deter them as they marched on in the second half, Felipe Luis scoring a well crafted free-kick that gave Chelsea a 2-0 lead at Pride Park.

However it looked like the game was heading for a nervy ending when Steven McLaren's team pulled one back in the last 20 minutes.

Craig Bryson scored to halve the deficit, however Andre Schurrle netted the decisive third goal that sealed the contest.

Meanwhile in the other game of the night, non Premier League playing side Sheffield United stunned a top-flight team Southampton whom they defeated 1-0.
