Politics Delta: Governor Okowa Honours Babangida, Others

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at the weekend honoured former Military President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, erstwhile governors as well as other illustrious sons and daughters of Delta State for their outstanding contributions to its and the country’s development.

The event, tagged Delta@25 was held in Asaba, the capital, also saw the three erstwhile civilian governors of the state (the late Olorogun Felix Ovudoroye Ibru, Chief James Onanefe Ibori and Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan) since its creation on August 27, 1985, honoured.

Okowa presented keys of the city gates to General Babangida, who, as military president, created Delta out of the defunct Bendel State, along with Edo State.

A former Minister of Information, Prof. Sam Oyovbaire, received the award on his behalf, commending the governor for the foresight in honouring him and other recipients.

Okowa has also called on the indigenes to play their roles in ensuring that the state attains an enviable height.
