Politics Dogara : 30-Year Old Nigerians Will Soon Be Eligible For President

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara on Wednesday told the Nigerian Youth Parliament that 30-year old Nigerians will soon be eligible to run for office of President.



Dogara explained that the provision was contained in a new bill seeking to lower the age qualification for persons vying for political offices in Nigeria.

If the amendment succeeds, the age qualification for the Presidency will drop from 40 to 30 years; Governor, 35 to 30 years; Senate, 35 to 30 years; House of Representatives and State House of Assembly, 30 to 25 years.

They should also create an age limit for aged people. 70s and above should not contest any political office again too so as to balance the chances, ie under 30 and above 70(30 before 100). This help our government to avoid ailing leaders due to age.
