Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has maintained that only God and posterity would judge his resolution to stand by the people even against powerful forces whose agenda was to subject the people to perpetual hardship.
The governor, who made the statement through his director of press and public affairs, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, was responding to a question on whether the government was strategizing to scuttle the extension of the emergency rule ahead of Tuesday’s Senate plenary where the final decision on the subject will be adopted.
Nyako said as a leader he had done his best to ensure that the emergency rule was not extended, adding that despite his opposition to the extension of the emergency rule he has limitations as he has no powers to force the legislatures to do his bidding.
