Sports Final matches in the Nigerian Professional Football league postponed

Organisers of the Nigeria Professional Football League, the League Management Company(LMC) have announced the postponement of this weekend games.

The 2013/2014 Nigerian football season should have climaxed this weekend with the final games slated to come up on Sunday, but LMC said the shift was done to sort out all disagreements in the course of the season.

Instead of this weekend, the games will now be played next weekend across the match centres in the federation.

Chief Operating Officer of the LMC Salihu Abubakar said in a statement that the decision was reached: “to allow for protests arising from some of the season’s fixtures to be conclusively disposed of.”

“Some of the protests will affect the final declaration of position of clubs on the log and we are aware that Confederation of African Football has issued a November 30 deadline for return of entries for representatives of member federations seeking to play in any of the continental club championships.

“The LMC is committed to protecting the integrity of all match results and will therefore await pronouncement of the Nigeria Football Federation relevant committees on the outstanding protests in the coming days. This way there won’t be any spill over games after the final day of matches.”

Kano Pillars have already been crowned champions for this season, but there are places still up for grabs, with so many teams jostling for a continental place.
