Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State on Friday at the closing of the maiden edition of the Governor’s Cup Debate competition said the state government had approved the recruitment of 1,000 indigenes who possessed National Certificate in Education (NCE).
He said the applicants who will be drawn from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state would sit for screening examinations to ensure that only the best and highly qualified were give the jobs.
He said successful applicants would be posted to both primary and Junior Secondary schools.
‘’ Recently, we conducted an examination for 1,000 supervisors but only 540 of them passed.''
Wamakko said said three model primary schools had been built in Sokoto to further decongest the existing ones.
``The state government is also rehabilitating and expanding many schools, while capacity building and teachers’ welfare, among others. were give top priority.
‘’ Henceforth, all primary and junior secondary schools in the state will have only forty pupils or students in a class in line with UNESCO standard.''
He said the state government was sponsoring 500 teachers for various graduate and post graduate studies in Uganda, Sudan, India and Bangladesh.
