Nigeria - Unknown gunmen have launched a surprise attack at the residence of ex President Goodluck Jonathan’s Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Matters, Mr. Waripamowei Dudafa, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

According to The Nation, the attack occurred at about 5:00pm in front of the expansive building located at the Okaka Estate.

Reports say the gunmen accosted policemen guarding the building on Tuesday evening and opened fire on them.

The bandits were said to have shot one of the policemen twice, while others reportedly fled to different directions for safety.

The gunmen then alighted from their Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), disarmed the injured policeman and fled with his AK47 rifle.

“The gunmen stormed the vicinity on a Lexus SUV. Though they did not gain entrance into the building, they opened fire on security operatives at the gate. It was a surprise attack. One of the policemen was shot twice, while others fled.” a police official said.

The incident was the second attack on Dudafa’s home by armed men in the past 8 months.

Gunmen dressed in mobile police uniform had in April burgled the home of Dudafa and carted away undisclosed sums of money after vandalising a safe in one of the rooms.
