Sports I quit the Super Eagles to give younger players a chance- Joseph Yobo

Former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo has revealed that giving younger players a chance to feature in the national team was the reason why he quit international football.

Yobo called time on his international career, retiring from the Super Eagles team after playing a role at the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

The former Everton and Fenerbahce defender said that he didn't want to deny younger players an opportunity to play for Nigeria.

"I made my decision to give the younger players a chance not because I couldn’t play. If I had stayed on perhaps some players would be left out.” Yobo told footballlive.com

Yobo in July, became the first player to attain 100 caps for Nigeria, which he achieved in the game against France.
