President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria(AFN) Solomon Ogba,will on Thursday in Moscow,be honoured by the President of the International Association of Athletics Federations(IAAF),Lamine Diack.
Ogba will be honoured with the award of IAAF Veteran Pin,for his giant strides in the sport,especially in re-positioning Nigerian Athletics.
The award ceremony will be coming up in Moscow,just a day before the commencement of the World Athletics Championship.
“The IAAF will honour Ogba for his efforts at ensuring Nigeria regained her pride of place in world athletics,” an AFN source was quoted as saying on Vanguard Sports.
This year’s IAAF championship,is set to be the biggest with 206 countries confirming their participation in the event.
While a total of 1974 athletes have been registered (1106 men and 868 women),which is a record entry for athletes.
