According to the state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Kayode Issa, a minimum of 5000 children and pregnant women will benefit from the Kwara state government maternal, neonatal and child healthcare programme.

He said that the strategy was to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by investing N9 million on the programme which aims at improving maternal health and reducing child mortality in the state.

The programme will provide deworming and malaria drugs for children and will be concluded twice annually, he said.
