After 50 days on medical vacation in UK, President Buhari has arrived his home country, Nigeria. He touched down at the Kaduna airport at the early hours of Friday. He was welcomed by Vice (Acting) President Yemi Osinbajo, among other members of his cabinet. President Buhari, 74, has been away since January 19, and what was supposed to be a 10-day medical leave turned out to be an almost-two-months stay in the UK. While abroad, here at home, there were speculations at to whether President Buhari is physically fit. But, finally he is back in Nigeria. Here are some things that went wrong with his stay in UK.
1. He did not come out clear on his true health status – Till his arrival President Buhari didn't open up on his true health status – which gave room for rumours on his true state of health. Reports and claims from his faithfuls only said: The President is hale and hearty.
2. He did not address Nigerians before Arrival – Throughout his stay in the UK, President Buhari did not address the nation he leads, but he made several telephone calls to governors, close aides, and also a telephone conversation with US President, Donald Trump.
3. When he called his faithfuls, he tagged Nigerians as mischief makers – When President Buhari finally called his aide, Femi Adesina, he thanked him for holding fort against mischief makers. Who are the mischief makers? Nigerians who asked to know his true health status?
4. He did not welcome Nigerian journalist – While in the UK, Security staff at the Abuja House in London called in policemen to arrest a correspondent of The Guardian who was on the premises to see President Muhammadu Buhari and possibly interview him. But, Buhari welcomed foreign guests and received party men at the Abuja house.
5. He spoke with only loyalists: President Buhari in UK, only called only specific number of loyalists, which is against his inauguration speech that: ''I belong to everybody, I belong to nobody''.
