Former President Olusegun Obasanjo today spoke on “Reconciliation, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation” at the #Biafra50 programme.



The former President said, “After independence, Nigeria had 3 countries in one. The problems continue to haunt us as a country today. Unity had eluded us”.

''We must concentrate on building Nigeria, we must learn our history. There’s no substitute for us.

“Nigeria must be treated like a love affair. We must massage Nigeria gently. Nigeria must mean something for everyone.

Yes, 3 countries in 1 but it has been like that after amalgamation and the consensus reached was that after hundred years, any region that wants can part.

Unity has eluded Nigeria yet Nigeria has refused to hear the call for solution. How can Nigeria carry something bigger than itself, (3countries) and you want it to survive?

Boko haram has made igbo and Christians uncomfortable in Nigeria. Politics in Nigeria is not accommodating to the Igbos. Infrastructural development repels the Igbo land. The Igbos have put every effort to development the Nigerian market and businesses but owners of the land/cities where they site their businesses make it unbearable for them. What then do they expect from the Igbo tribes? How can Nigeria be dying for carrying heavy load and they won't listen to offer for relieve. Nigeria needs to survive and Biafra needs to be free.
