Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim has alleged that Ondo state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Business mogul called for his removal before the November 26 governorship election in the state.

Ibrahim also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to officially publish his name as candidate of the PDP for the election, as ordered by Justice Okon Abang of the Abuja High ‎Court, recently.

Addressing a press conference, in Abuja, yesterday, Ibrahim alleged that the REC was a PDP member and, therefore, cannot be transparent, free and fair in handling such a sensitive assignment.
“The REC in Ondo State is a PDP member,” he alleged.

“That is not in doubt, quote me. ‎He has been attending all the functions of Mimiko (the state governor). So I won’t accept that he can conduct this election in the state.

“INEC must remove him. Look, we must be transparent. We cannot allow somebody who will rig election to conduct the poll. He must be removed and another REC, who is unbiased, ‎allowed to conduct the election.

Ibrahim emerged governorship candidate for the Ondo election in a parallel primary poll organised by the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction of the PDP.
