It took the intervention of several policemen to call things to order after supporters of the PDP and APGA clashed in Kuje, Abuja over a campaign billboard.
Trouble started over attempt to remove the campaign billboard with the image of Shabab Tete, the council chairman, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the PDP. The billboard was mounted in front of the council secretariat.
Kuje PDP Youth Leader, Adamu Dogo, said the billboard was mounted by some PDP supporters who later decamped to APGA.
He said the fight started when they tried to replace the board with the image of Haruna Yerima, APGA candidate, in the forthcoming election.
“The billboard was mounted by PDP and the APGA people have no right to remove the image of our candidate, and put their own,” he said.
“Even if the decamped supporters of PDP were among those that mounted the billboard, the finance came from the ruling party, PDP.
“They should wait till after March 19 after the people have decided who they want as Kuje Chairman.”
On his part, Bala Yusuf, APGA youth leader, said the billboard was an individual project and was not financed by the PDP. He claimed that the person that financed the billboard had receipts for it.
“The owner of the billboard want to use his property and the PDP people are saying no; this billboard was mounted by an individual and not by PDP,” he said.
“We will take the matter to court because this is pure intimidation by the PDP.”
