An unnamed policeman and his lover, a female member of the NSCDC have been reported dead in Ezinifite Okpuno, Awka-South LGA of Anambra State.
Ifeoma, the NSCDC member according to reports is married with 5 children and her family stays in Awka. The policeman has 3 children and his family lives in Lagos.
Witnesses said Ifeoma told her husband she was going to a church vigil but ended up in the arms of the policeman.
“The woman spent the night with her police lover until a labourer, who was to work for the policeman, came in the morning and discovered their dead bodies," someone familiar with the incident said.
Neighbours alleged that the lovebirds were killed by fumes emanating from a generator.
“There was the sound of a small generator throughout the night in his apartment. But at about 4am, it went dead; maybe the fuel got finished," a witness said.
“The policeman lived on the third floor of the house. As a policeman, he hardly stayed around, but each time he was around, everybody would know, because he would run his generator all through the night. Everybody called him ‘Officer’, but I think he was an inspector.”
