Two goals from Ricardo Quaresma and one from Jackson Martinez gave FC Porto victory over Pep Guadiola's Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA champions league quarter final clash on Wednesday night.
The Portuguese team defeated the German champions 3-1 on the night with Quaresma scoring his first in the 4th minute of the game and doubled his side's lead six minutes after.
The two goals had come due to defensive errors from the 2013 champions to the UEFA title but Spanish midfielder, Thiago Alcanthara gave Bayern a lifeline in the 28th minutes.
But, with the defense line of the visitors getting worse, the home team added their third goal, which will give then an advantage, if they can hold on to the lead as they return to the Alianz Arena for the second leg of the clash.
Bayern was without their Frank Ribery, David Alaba, Bastian Schweinstieger, and Arjen Robben which was an advantage for Porto
In France, Barcelona scored four goals on the night but one was counted for Paris Saint Germaine, as Jeremy Matthieu scored an own goal in the 82nd minute after coming in as a substitute in the game.
Neymar opened scoring for the Spanish side in the 18th minute of the game after receiving a through pass from Lionel Messi.
Messi earlier in the game was denied a scoring chance as his efforts hit a side bar, and the first half ended 1-0.
The second half was a Luis Suarez's show as the Uruguay striker netted twice to give the Luis Enrique's men a comfortable lead into the second leg at Camp Now.
Barcelona drew their last league game against Sevilla which has now reduced their points ahead of Real Madrid to 2 points from 4.
Both Porto and Barcelona have advantages as they head to the second leg of the champions league next week.
