The United States of America is expected to stop issuing 2-year visas to Nigerians following the implementation of President Donald Trump's immigration policy.
The policy aims to treat countries the same way Americans are treated as regards visa issuance. Nigeria only offers a one-year visa to Americans at the moment while American used to offer a 2-year visa to Nigerians.
Also, the US charges Nigerians $160 for a typical visit visa, while Nigeria charges Americans $180, plus a $35 “processing fee.”
If Nigeria doesn't adjust its visa policies for Americans, the 2-year visa for Nigerians may be cut down to one-year.
Furthermore, Nigerians with dual citizenship with Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen will be restricted from the US.
Reacting to the visa ban on Sunday, Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina, said: “It is not a presidency matter," according to Vanguard.
It's expected that the Federal Government or the Nigeria Immigration Service will speak more about the issue later on or make some new moves.
