Former Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri, has mocked telecommunications outfit, Etisalat over $1.2 billion debt.

Omokri claims the company “destroyed” themselves by backing President Muhammadu Buhari and not his former boss.

He tweeted: “Those behind Etisalat backed PMB and undermined GEJ, thinking they were destroying GEJ. Today they find that it’s themselves they destroyed!?”

Etisalat Nigeria trouble is coming after discussions with a consortium of 13 banks, including Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and Access Bank Plc, to restructure the $1.2 bilion loan after the telecoms firm missed repayment deadlines failed to produce an agreement.

In a statement on Tuesday, Etisalat Nigeria confirmed the development and said it had commenced the restructuring with changes to its shareholding.
