The opposition party, APC, has accused the president of Nigeria of sponsoring 'ethnic militias' to cause trouble before during and after the elections.

According to the party, N9bn has been paid to ex-militants and ethnic militias aimed at disrupting the elections.

Lai Mohammed, the party's National publicity secretary said that the MASSOB protest against Jega was orchestrated by this administration for the same reason.

He said the next group to be mobilized was the OPC, who were ostensibly paid N9 billion for protecting the pipeline, but in reality it was for mobilizing the militias for election scuttling.

”A profligate government that has been bribing people with dollars and ferrying huge funds around practically to buy votes has outdone itself by paying out all of 9 billion Naira to a few Nigerians, with less than three weeks to the elections,” it said. “Shortly after the payment, some self-serving groups started organizing protests that, for all intents and purposes, are being orchestrated to scuttle the polls. This is a shameful show by the federal government.”

Time for both parties to produce evidence of claims or leave the public out of the game.
