Politics Sambo Shocked by Balat's Death

Abuja - Vice President Namadi Sambo in a statement issued by the his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Umar Sani, on Tuesday described the sudden demise of Sen. Isaiah Balat as shocking, and that it left a deep sense of loss behind.

He said Balat was a great politician who would go down in history as someone who took giant steps to stabilise the Nigerian polity through his numerous contributions and selfless service to the nation.

He said that the deceased would be greatly missed by the presidency, Kaduna State and Nigeria, in general.

He prayed for the repose of his soul and for his family to have the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The vice president had earlier visited the family of the deceased at Apo Legislative Quarters where he condoled with them and offered special prayer.

Late Balat, who was a Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Vice President, died at the age of 61.
