The Nigerian Senate today insisted that insisted that the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, must honour the invitation to the hollowed chambers or risk arrest.
The Senate's order follows a report by Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary, David Umaru, who informed lawmakers that presidential aide, Ita Enang, had appealed for more time for Malami to prepare before appearing before the Senate.
Responding to the plea, Senate President Bukola Saraki said, “As a Senate, we are always in the progress of development. We will ensure that he comes this time otherwise we will have no choice than to follow the constitution. The committee will report back to us be for the end of the week''.
Saraki added that Senate will not hesitate to issue a bench warrant within one week if the AGF fails to respond to invitations.
